Christmas Chocolates

In addition to fudge and carmel corn and cookies, these are the  candies I make for Christmas.

This year I’m making GF Oreo Truffles using Glutino chocolate vanilla creme cookies.

LOVE the tip here to “dust hands with powder sugar when rolling mixture into small balls – this helps mixture from sticking to your hands”.

This recipe uses jello for the cherry flavor!

1/2 stk margarine
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 lb confectioners’ sugar
1 bx vanilla frosting mix (dry)
1 pkg cherry jello (small size, dry mix)
8 oz maraschino cherries, drained, dried, chopped in blender
1/2 can(s) sweetened condensed milk
10 oz unsalted peanuts, crushed
18 oz chocolate chips, either milk chocolate or semi-sweet
1/2 oz paraffin (1/8 of a bar,171,159177-235192,00.html,177,159177-233192,00.html

2 lbs. powdered sugar
1/4 lb. butter, melted
1/4 tsp. almond extract or vanilla
1 lg. pkg. Angel Flake coconut
1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
Cherries or nuts (opt.)
Combine powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, coconut and condensed milk.
Roll into a ball with a cherry in middle or into small balls. Chill in refrigerator.
1 lg. pkg. chocolate chips
2/3 bar shaved paraffin
Melt over hot water and dip balls into chocolate on toothpick. Use the milk can to melt paraffin the mix with chocolate chips.
