Marshmallow Manners

The sun did not shine.
It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house
All that cold,cold wet day.
                       ~Dr. Seuss

To liven things up on this cold, cold wet day, I decided we would play the "Marshmallow Manners" game.  Each time one of my children remembers to use good manners they get a marshmallow as a reward.  They get to save all their "rewards" in a ziplock baggie and this evening we will all enjoy a mug of cocoa with the earned marshmallows on top!

In addition to earning marshmallows for using the "Magic Words":
"Yes M’am"
"No Ma’m"
"Thank You"
"No Thank You"

The children earn rewards by being kind, showing good table manners, and overall good behavior.

A nice way to practice manners and cure the winter blues, don’t you agree?

What a fun idea! My children would wind up thanking me for thanking them just so they could get another marshmallow. : )
