Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
– Philippians 3:13,14
Life is precious and life is short and death is coming for us all sooner or later. Therefore, let me challenge you to live the life that you were meant to live, live a life that will please the Father and bring the greatest amount of satisfaction. Seek your destiny and enjoy the journey!
Today my challenge is to *SIMPLIFY*.
What is the one thing that comes to mind when you think of that thing in your life that is holding you back? Why haven’t you let it go? Sometimes we have to move on. Other times we have to not find a way out but a way through. Perhaps it’s time to declutter a bad attitude? A new outlook, a new attitude about a situation can be a breath of new life.
What can you do to "refine in 09"? What do you need to trim off your life?
Let me make some suggestions:
Simplify your environment – your home, your office, your vehicle, your bedroom, your closet, or just a drawer. Everyone can find some space that needs some simplifying..
Simplify your mind – take time each day to meditate on the Word of God. Pray and seek His will every day. All day.1
Simplify your attitude – accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative! Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. – Philippians 4:8 1
Simplify your body – lose those excess pounds, lose those unhealthy habits. Join a gym, join a support group, find an exercise buddy, find a solution NOT an excuse! You find some motivation for you….David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. – I Samuel 30:61
Simplify your relationships – Ask God for wisdom to decide which relationships need to be restored and which ones need to be retired. Sometimes you have to let go of toxic friendships that cause pain and/or take you down the wrong road. Seek counsel, pray earnestly, and request prayer. 1
Simplify your soul – whatever is in your life that has made you bitter, depressed, or angry; remember that only you can change how you feel about it. Staying bitter or mad won’t change what happened. It happened. It’s over but not if you relive it every day, not if you allow it to control you and cheat you of a true happy life that you were meant to live. It wasn’t fair. Jesus died on a cross. Seek Him to release you of the chains that are keeping you down. Get back by being better not bitter. Get a new focus and a new joy-filled life. He is waiting for you to come to Him.Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:39.
Simplify your life! If your job is draining the life out of you, find a way to get a new one or a way to change so that you enjoy what you do. Slow down. Say no. Turn off the noise – the TV, the phones and the electronics. Stop settling for second best. Find your passion and pursue only the best. Determine your priorities and then live your life by those priorities. And turn off the computer. Seriously. Today. Now!
